The animation is early Harryhausen work, but you can already see how he's giving the "Rhedosaur" a personality, as he did with all his animated creatures.

Although Ray Harryhausen may have sadly passed away, he should be remembered for the great movies he produced and the early special effects (that he spent days crafting models on and doing the stop motion) that he made.
Still considered the precursor to Godzilla (rightfully so), this has aged well and can see the omages seen in later monster-destruction films. They even die in the same way. Now as an adult, I can re-visit this film anytime I wish with a stunning Blu-Ray transfer. The lighthouse scene was inspired by a short story from Ray Bradbury, a close friend to Harryhausen.
