Graph courtesy, NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE The National Weather Service regional office in Morristown released an interactive map on Saturday showing the pathways of four tornadoes that ransacked large areas of Bradley County late Easter Sunday, resulting in the destruction of 26 homes, severely damaging 46 others and leaving up to 78 residents homeless.According to the NWS, "... 62 other dwellings were also affected" by the series of storms.The four tornadoes — with the first being the massive EF3 that originated in northern Georgia and then plowed through the East Brainerd, Ooltewah and Collegedale areas before entering Bradley County and briefly striking the McDonald community before dissipating — were created by the same weather system that formed the original Chattanooga twister.The next three tornadoes — including the EF2 that leveled much of East Cleveland, an EF1 that struck the Tasso community and an EF1 that touched down in the Michigan Avenue Road and Minnis Road area — came from the same weather system.The massive storm system, called a mesocyclone, is defined as a storm-scale region of rotation.In its report, the NWS said a strong and dynamic storm system produced severe thunderstorms across the Southeast region on Easter Sunday.“A thunderstorm developed across northeast Alabama and northwest Georgia within a larger line of convection," the NWS reported.
