Superman fans I have and will always say that the best comic book movie ever made was 1978's Superman: The Movie and of course it got several sequels but what makes this one standout is that there are two versions of Superman 2. which will make you go crazy if you haven't seen Lester's version.

While it's entirely possible that no movie could compete with the finished perfect version each of us has imagined over the years it really should have been a thrill to finally see this project. On the commentary, Donner came across as still being very bitter, and he didn't give Lester any credit at all for what were some great scenes that improved the movie no end compared to Donner's. Lois lane jumping out the window was silly, and some of the action fight scenes in metropolis were dreadful. It's a pity that the Salkinds, who deserved to go bankrupt, couldn't have left Donner alone.
