Of course not all come to any one port but it does present us with opportunities to reach out to these men and women of the sea with the message of salvation. Our parish covers most of the city centre and docks, including Lime Street, the Albert Dock and the “Liverpool One” development; in total over 16,000 people live within our boundaries.Our position on the Pierhead means that for generations the Church has been associated with seafarers. We have strong links with the Royal Navy and the Merchant Navy, and sailors have looked to us as their spiritual home. The Parish Church also serves the civic and business communities in the city, and today reaches out to the increasing residential population as well.

A church has stood on this site since at least 1257AD and the present church dates from just after the Second World War (although the tower originates from the early nineteenth century).
We are a Church of England parish in the Diocese of Liverpool. In practice, we share our faith with those who are often lonely and far from their families, and try to reassure them that they are loved by God. The Mersey Mission to Seafarers is the oldest surviving Anglican Church seamen's mission in the world and was started in 1856. The Liverpool Seafarers Centre was up against Jubilee Sailing and Nautilus International Welfare Fund as the judges of the Mersey Maritime Industry considered their contribution in bringing about positive change.
