It’s always cool to see smaller bands “graduate” to bigger stages.They’re good for an opening band. Silent Planet. They set up faster than any other band I’ve ever seen and were firing on all cylinders from the first note they played, truly showing they are masters of their craft.The energy with which they played was contagious, everyone on and off the stage was moving. Pennsylvania metal quintet August Burns Red recently started their trek across North American in celebration of the ten year anniversary of their third full length album “Constellations.” This will mark the second full album play through the band has toured on, the first being the ten year anniversary of their 2007 breakthrough album “Messengers.” The Constellations tour began earlier this week in the band’s homestate of Pennsylvania, and will continue across North American before going overseas to Europe and the U.K.. Silverstein closed out their set with “Afterglow,” and their set was 1000/10.August Burns Red was next, and I had high expectations for their set.August Burns Red plays like five hundred tanks barrelling for the front line. Paul was dialed in on the drums.Silverstein played some of the classics (“My Heroine,” “Smile In Your Sleep,” “Smashed Into Pieces”), which admittedly made me a little emotional. The band played “Ghosts,” “Invisible Enemy,” and “Composure” to close out the night.I really cannot say enough about August Burns Red’s performance.
