So, when I got seat time in the 2020 BMW 840i coupe and then the convertible, I was very excited.I have a thing for German luxury vehicles as it is, and I also have a thing for convertibles, so needless to say it was a great couple of weeks with these two luxury sports cars.

For a vehicle that weighs more than 4,200 pounds, the 840i is spry and agile. And the 840i would be just as good without the admittedly expensive M Sport pack, which would keep it below the starting price of competitors like the Be respectful, keep it civil and stay on topic. A deeply sculpted hood adds a slick, sporty vibe as do the air intakes with decorative emblems near the front tire.The back end of the 8-series is just as sexy as the front end. As tested, the BMW 840i was a lot of fun to drive. As such, the exterior of the BMW 840 in either variant, is almost a work of art. But once you master it, you get all the perks from it and it looks great on the 12.3-inch touchscreen. Just like my 2019 BMW M850i Convertible reviewed last year, the 2020 BMW 840i Convertible shines brightly with its inviting interior that’s chalk full of luxury with a well-thought-out dashboard and latest iDrive infotainment unit. But, hey it’s a convertible, open the top and you have endless headroom.But, the lack of spaciousness in the back seat is really the only drawback to the BMW 840i. The 2020 BMW 840i convertible brings the tenor of inline engines into action in the all-new BMW 8-series.
